So the problem was waveshell files I had missed patching on the first install.ĭecided to come at the problem differently to get aax files working in Pro Tools on Windows 7 64 bit. I searched for "waveshell", found about 3 or 4 other folders that had waveshell files I had missed on the first install, replaced them with the patched ones, and doing this got everything working just fine. Then I used a great little piece of free software called "Everything" () that creates a quick database of all files on your computer and allows for instant searches on your computer. I waited a half hour to do the patching so that when you are looking at all these waveshell files in Explorer (or some other file manager) you can easily spot which are the original and which are the patched ones based on the difference in creation time noted on the file.

So, the "fix" I did was to clean everything up, and re-do the install. I wound up determining that there are just quite a few different folders that waveshell files are getting dumped into on Win 8.1, and its easy to miss some of them, especially since they all have the same names as the patched files - it can get confusing. Then, by the next day, after a re-boot, all the licenses were gone and nothing would work with Waves. Despite those license prompts, at first the Waves stuff was still showing up in the list of "effects" in S1. What happened with me was that I did the install, but was still getting some license prompts in S1. Not sure if it relates to the OP's difficulties on this thread, but if not maybe it will help someone else doing a search on the forum for an assist with this installation.
